Jiade Montessori Bilingual Kindergarten Jinshan, Shanghai Campus, located in No. 1888 Jinshandadao, Jinshan District, Shanghai, was founded in 2006. In 2017, Wisdom International Education Group took over the the school and introduced the management method of “One Campus, Two Systems”. By now, it has not only become an international kindergarten affiliated with American Montessori Society (AMS) with experienced international experts on campus, but also the training base of National Institute of Montessori Education, National Institute of Vocational Education, Beijing Normal University, as well as the strategic partner school of SSAT（Secondary School Admission Test) training program, which usually secure admission to private and boarding schools in US.

Jiade Montessori Bilingual Kindergarten Jinshan, Shanghai Campus covers a land of 32,779 square meters. It now has a total of 10 classes: 2 nursery classes (2 bilingual ones), 3 junior classes(1 international class and 2 bilingual ones), and 5 senior classes (3 bilingual ones and 2 local ones). Each class is equipped with a lead teacher, assistant teachers, EAL teacher, and child care workers.

Since May of 2017 when JDM brought its kindergarten model into Jinshan Campus, the “One Campus, Two Systems” management policy had been in effect, which means that the existing classes with traditional teaching method at Jinshan Campus remained available with Montessori classes set at the same time, showing great respect for the freedom of choice of the children and their family. Students enrolled before JDM’s involvement can choose between the traditional classes and the Montessori ones. Such policy will remain in place until all students who entered before May 2017 have graduate from the school.

Jiade Montessori Bilingual Kindergarten Jinshan, Shanghai Campus also serves as an accredited training center under National Institute of Montessori Education, National Institute of Vocational Education, Beijing Normal University. As one of the first teacher training centers under NIME, Jinshan Campus not only provides a real Montessori environment and teaching activities for the trainees, but has also built two classrooms equipped with standard international Montessori training settings for trainees who take age 0-3 and age 3-6 teacher-training courses affiliated with American Montessori Society (AMS). We are confident that under the combined notion of “Research, Training, Practice”, Jinshan Campus will deliver more and more excellent teachers for Jinshan Campus and Wisdom Group, as well as create a quality talent pool of teachers that will benefit other local schools in Jinshan District and the surrounding area.

The Montessori Method nurtures children’s mind and heart, so that they grow into people who are self-organized, who can cooperate with others, be at peace with themselves, adapt well to an ever-changing society, develop good language skills, and live a harmonious and fulfilled life. One of the key features of the Montessori Method is that a teacher with great patience, care, and professional knowledge is provided for a small group of mixed-age children. This teacher prepares a safe, welcoming, organized, and inspiring environment for children to explore freely. Montessori classes are equipped with scientific, systematic, and instructive teaching tools with automatic problem control, but also very appealing to children and easy for them to move and use. In this environment, children are able to learn by themselves and for themselves, pursue their own curiosity and interest, and at the same time build their characters through problem-solving, and develop social skills by cooperating with each other. This is why teaching materials or teaching tools are so important in Montessori Education.          

We provide rich choices of teaching tools such as nature & science materials, art devices, and musical instruments, so that children can learn practical skills from daily life, build focus, coordination, confidence, orderness, and develop into full personality. Meanwhile, with the critical stages of child development in mind, we enable children to develop a better understanding of abstract ideas through working with various teaching tools. This can also satisfy their need for physical and mental growth.

The faculty at our school is comprised by experienced teachers specialized in early-child education and properly trained in Montessori education. With them, children are able to experience both cultures and learn both languages in a natural, immersive bilingual setting. As a result, our children can master Mandarin and English with ease just like their native language.

JDM integrates the Montessori Method into every part of our practice, especially in the five major subjects: practical life, sensorial, math, language, and culture, contributing to a vibrant and diversified curriculum. Teaching materials and tools are changed once a month in order to better satisfy children’s curiosity and better reflect the scenarios in their everyday life. Once the children enter the kindergarten, practical life classes becomes a bridge between the kindergarten and their homes. This class is intended to help develop children’s focus, independence, self-discipline, and writing skills, including how to write with a pencil. Montessori education, with the rich resources and flexibility it offers, is like a springboard that helps children reach their full potential of imagination and creativity.
