A Special Children’s Day – A Thousand Books and A Thousand Miles 2017-06-01

After the loving May, JDM embraced the bright June!

We celebrated the International Children’s Day in a warm, lovely way….

Sunshine, laughter, and hugging… we celebrated and enjoyed this special day!

This year’s Children’s Day fell on the Reading Week of JDM Chaoyang Campus, where teachers and parents organized an activity “A Thousand Books and A Thousand Miles” to celebrate the Children’s Day in 2017. Now, let’s look back to that special day.

To add surprise to the Children’s Day, parents put on costumes as characters from fairy tales. Mini, Princess Elsa, Princess White…all came to our activity, inviting children into a fairy land!

Children were well-dressed with their costumes for this fairy party. They made a cute, joyful entrance with applause, cheers, and laughter, kicking off the Children’s Day Activity.

Mommies and Daddies have been practicing on their performance of “Purring Cow’s” story to present the plots and purpose of the story by acting it out. Through their performance, children had a better understanding of how smarty mice coped with bad fox, owl, snake, and big purring cow.

Here is Alice’s wonderland. “The White Rabbit” guided children into the tree hole and started their walking in the maze where each path leading to a different exit. "The Red Queen", “Alice”, and “the White Queen” were waiting at the end of each path to lead children to complete a mission. Children who completed missions of “face matching”, “puzzle”, and “ball into hole” would be awarded with a gift!

Every child was provided with 3 coupons to buy second-hand books he/she likes in the Children’s Day Market. The shopping of used books would allow children to learn the importance of recycling and to develop a habit of reading.

After the book shopping, children went back to their classrooms to enjoy the story-telling by mommies. It was a peaceful and wonderful moment when children were immersed in stories and mommies’ sweet voices.

Children’s cheerful laughter and voices concluded Children’s Day Activity. They had such a good time that they expressed special thanks to parents and teachers. To us, teachers and parents, children’s laughter is the most wonderful thing in this world. It is better than the warm sunshine, the fresh breeze, and the cool river, and will be remembered forever.

Happy Children’s Day!
